Award wins for One New Ludgate & The Zig Zag Building
27 May 2016
It’s been an exciting month for the Land Securities London Portfolio, coming out on top at both the RICS and PROPS awards 2016.
New Ludgate recently won the RICS award for Best Commercial Building, submitted by scheme architects Fletcher Priest and will now go forward for consideration at the National awards in October.
One New Ludgate is part of the transformation of a tired 1980’s city block into a lively new quarter near St Paul’s Cathedral. The building comprises nine storeys of flexible office space with restaurants and shops at ground floor, spilling onto a newly created piazza. An extensive roof terrace on the 5th floor provides incredible views across St Paul’s Cathedral for occupier Ropes & Gray.
A few days later The Zig Zag Building won the Commercial Development of the Year at the Property Marketing Awards 2016 (PROPS).
It was a proud win for the London team and The Zig Zag Building. The building is part of the £2.2 billion regeneration of Victoria and replaced the former Kings gate house building on Victoria street, now home to the 199,000 sq. ft. office building and Kings Gate luxury residential with 110 apartments. Designed by Patrick Lynch Architects, The Zig Zag building provides an imaginative take on traditional architectural values, a conceptive zig zag design flow as the building appears and retreats from the sidewalk improving pedestrian flow and now home to world class occupiers including Jupiter, Deutsche Bank and Moneycorp.
The ‘PROPS’ is the first property industry awards event in the UK with a charitable objective to help purchase powered wheelchairs for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK. 25 years on, it’s still one of the most prestigious awards raising nearly £9 million a year.
